LIVING IN WOLUWE-SAINT-PIERRE

Few districts in the Brussels region can boast a green heritage as extensive and varied as that of Woluwe-Saint-Pierre, which incorporates part of the magnificent Sonian Forest (forêt de Soignes). The area is home to several landscaped parks and a similar number of lakes, as well as a river flowing through a valley of undeniable bucolic tranquillity, and all surrounded by spacious open neighbourhoods, flower-rich gardens and tree-lined squares and avenues.
Of the total 2,187 acre expanse, an estimated 500 acres or so, or around a quarter of the neighbourhood’s entire area, is made up of public green spaces.
Some of these spaces are of such high ecological quality and landscape value that they have been awarded listed status by the Belgian Commission Royale des Monuments et des Sites and are included in the European Natura 2000 network, which endows them with a legal status that will ensure they will be managed and preserved for future generations.

Marc Corbiau

Most of Marc Corbiau’s work is in Belgium where his reputation is well established. He works mainly in Uccle, Brussels and Flanders, but also abroad with numerous projects in Switzerland, Israel, the Dominican Republic, Greece, France, Spain, etc.
He started working when he completed his studies and he is still practising.
« For more than 40 years, Marc Corbiau has been building houses like few others, vast and luxurious, for a demanding and cultivated clientele.
Working with the best craftsmen, decorators, artists and garden architects, he completely furnishes them, adorns them with works of art and surrounds them with dream gardens.
Each of his designs is realised taking close account of the tastes, the culture or the memories of the future occupants. In spite of this diversity, there is always a unity of inspiration that finds its source in the understanding of ancient art and architecture and in the knowledge of Palladianism, but also in a deep sympathy for American Minimalism.
From this approach, which reconciles classicism with modernity, concerns for harmony with a quest for elementary geometries, there results an extraordinary feeling of serenity and calm ».
